Yay - Bog Child by Siobhan Dowd has won the Carnegie Medal.
If you haven't read it it is the story of Fergus who finds a small body in a peat bog when he is out with his Uncle Tally.
I loved this book from the moment I read the first few words of it.
It has got pretty much everything you need in a book - love, hate, death and the threat of death, a bit of the supernatural (the bog person appears in Fergus' dreams),politics and the usual family stress and snark. Oh and it has funny bits too - the smuggled bomb that contains more than a high explosive.
Saddest thing is that Siobhan Dowd recently died so there won't be any more new books written by her.
